How Constipation Promotes Acne

“CONSTIPATION”. Why it is associated with ACNE.

Acne is actually the disorder of inflammation of hair follicles and sebaceous glands. Hair follicles are tiny skin pores through which hair shafts arise and sebum comes out the upper surface of skin (epidermis). Sebaceous glands are minute glands that secrete sebum, an oily substance for lubrication of hair follicles and preventing the skin from bacterial infection.

Hair follicles and sebaceous glands are very vulnerable to damage and are very sensitive. Hair follicles are formed of epithelial cells that are very susceptible to toxicity and external and internal stimuli. When toxicity increases in your blood due to any reason, like constipation, hair follicles and sebaceous glands get inflamed.

Once hair follicles and sebaceous glands are inflamed, hair follicles get constricted and sebaceous glands begin to produce excessive amount of sebum. When excessive sebum is produced and hair follicles are constricted or narrowed, sebum accumulates within hair follicles and exerts force on walls of hair follicles to rupture them.

If the sebum stays inside hair follicles, a tiny bump appears called whitehead. At this stage, you developed your first acne symptom. If the sebum pops out the bump, it is called blackhead. The blackhead that later forms pimples, papules and pustules, the more complicated and severe forms of acne blackheads.
