Beta-S by Baywood or Beta-sitosterol is a plant sterol similar in structure to cholesterol, found naturally in fruits, vegetables, beans (especially soy), nuts, and seeds. Phytosterols, (plant sterols) including beta-sitosterol, contain a complex of specific types of plant sterols known as sitosterolins, stigmasterol and campesterol.

How does Beta-S work?
The two food substance of 300mg beta-sitosterol and 30mg citrus pectin are known and clinically proven cholesterol lowering agents that, when combined together, alter dietary fat and cholesterol absorption. Beta-s is broken down in the upper intestine within 30 minutes after ingestion.

The proposed mechanisms of action are:

~ intestinal binding excretion of free cholesterol
~ blocking of absorption sites in the intestinal walls an enzymatic shift
~ decreasing liver cholesterol production
~ increased liver enzyme functions on the breakdown of fats

How does Beta-S work for supporting prostate health?
Beta-sitosterol binds to prostatic tissue, inhibits prostaglandin synthesis in the prostate and acts as an anti-inflammatory. Beta-s™ can also reduce the activity of 5-alpha-reductase, an enzyme responsible for activating the conversion of testosterone to DHT (dihydrotestosterone). This prevents the cell proliferation and growth (hyperplasia) of prostate tissue that leads to all the undesirable symptoms mentioned above.

Cholestatin 300mg: beta-sitosterol copmlex containing beta-sitosterol 40%, campesterol 20%, stigmasterol 11%, brassicaterol .3%, Citrus Pectin 30mg.

Other ingredients: microcyrstalline cellulose, lecithin, cellulose, cilica, polyvinylprolidone, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, vinegar.

Suggested Use:
The recommended dosage for Beta-s™ is 1-2 tablets 30 minutes before a meal or snack with a full eight ounce glass of water. Beta-s™ should be taken in equal doses at least three times per day, whether meals are skipped or not. If a meal is especially heavy or fat laden, it is recommended to take two or more tablets.
