Know the signs of a stroke

A stroke can cause permanent, debilitating damage to survivors. It is also the number three cause of death in the United States behind heart disease and cancer. It is extremely important to know the warning signs of a stroke and when you see those signs, to immediately call 9-1-1.

Here are the warning signs:

~ Sudden weakness or numbness of the face, arm or leg, especially noted on one side of the body.

~ Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding.

~ Sudden trouble seeing whether in one eye or both.

~ Sudden onset of dizziness, loss of balance or coordination or trouble walking.

~ Sudden severe headache with no apparent cause.
